The history of Peugeot logo

Peugeot became one of the most qualified founders in the history of the automobile industry in 1890. In 1905, the Lions LOGO first appeared in Peugeot’s website. After more than 120 years, the Lion’s LOGO experienced a total of ten innovations. Let’s talk about the evolution of Peugeot Lions LOGO.

In 1847,Peugeot family want to use the Mongolian monarchy heraldic pattern lion as a LOGO, because the lion represent the three characteristics of the Peugeot Saw Blade: jagged like a lion teeth as durable, saw the same as the lion spine is not easy to break, cutting speed like a lion Swiftly.

  Among the many designs by the jeweler, the Peugeot brothers chose the lion silhouette on the arrow. November 20, 1858, Peugeot in the French Royal Museum of Art officially registered the lion LOGO.

  In the 20th century, more and more car brands began to decorate of a unique personality statue. So in 1923, the sculptor Baudichon designed the lion statue for the Peugeot.

  In 1929, Peugeot 201 appear in the Paris Motor Show, after that, Peugeot take the middle of the “0” three-digit named registered as a trademark, and still in use today. In 1933, Peugeot’s models have been all streamlined design, at the same time, each car’s front with a lion head LOGO.

  In 1940 the German occupied the Sochaux factory and command they are producted 500 light trucks monthly, In 1948, Peugeot launched the first post-World War II design, the new model Peugeot 203. The car in the network position increase the hind legs of the lion.

In 1955, Peugeot for the first time with the Italian Turin designer Pininfarina co-design car body, and launched the Peugeot 403. The car replacement of the shield shape LOGO, but retained the hind legs of lion, and in the top of the lion joined the Peugeot brand name.

  In 1960, the new lion LOGO with Peugeot 404 listing. The car body designed by Pininfarina, using a simple modernist style. The new LOGO still follow the shield, but become more three-dimensional, and in the Peugeot brand name is below the thick mane lion head.

  In 1968, Peugeot launched a new high-end car Peugeot 504, the series has four cars, convertible, hatchback, two-door sports car and so on. Along with the new car there is a simple, flat lion head LOGO, and the logo color can be selected between gold and chrome.

  In 1975, the Peugeot 604 came out, this period of Peugeot LOGO use a black box with highlight the shape and vertical legs lion.

In 1976, Peugeot LOGO became a blue background more abstract lion, in the vertical direction also designed  three-dimensional ridge line.

  In 2010, Peugeot anniversary 200 years, ushered in the tenth time change LOGO. The new LOGO adds to the lion’s metallic texture, highlighting the lines of the lion’s arm. Up to now, Peugeot brand is still using this LOGO.
